Made in Japan, on Japanese paper.
Every anotoki poster is printed to order for you in Japan, on thick matte Japanese paper, from a 300 dpi file drawn by the same code as the preview you approved.

From the paper to your door.
We chose to make every poster here, close to the people who hang them: Japanese paper, printing in Japan and delivery across the country.
- Japanese paperEvery poster is printed on thick, matte poster paper from Japan, chosen for its smooth surface and calm finish.
- Printed in JapanEach poster is printed for you in Japan after you order it. Nothing is made abroad or shipped in from a warehouse.
- Sent within JapanYour poster travels only within the country: free and sent within 5 days, or within 48 hours with Express.
- Japanese on the posterPlace names in Japanese or English, and a vertical tategaki layout written top to bottom.
- Moods from Japanese craftInk on paper, like sumi-e on washi, Old Edo woodblock and Golden lines, after kintsugi.
- Answered in JapaneseQuestions about your order are answered by people at anotoki, in Japanese or English.
Six things we never skip.
- Thick and matteA heavy paper with a smooth, matte finish. No shine, so the map reads from any angle, by a window or under a lamp.
- Sharp at every sizeWe make each print file at 300 dpi for the size you ordered, so street names and fine lines stay crisp, even at 70 × 100 cm.
- Colour made for printThe file carries its colour profile and is prepared for the FOGRA39 printing standard, so the press knows exactly which colours you chose.
- Right to the edgeEvery file has 3 mm extra on each side that is trimmed away, so the map runs cleanly to the edge with no white sliver.
- Rolled with careYour poster is rolled and sent in a tube, so it arrives without folds or creases.
- Printed to orderNothing waits in a warehouse. We print your poster after you order it, so it is always fresh off the press.
What you see is what we print.
- 01You see it as printedThe editor draws your poster exactly as we print it, and shows it on a wall to scale before you order.
- 02We draw it again, largerWhen you order, our print system opens your design and draws it with the same code at 300 dpi for your paper. Nothing is redrawn by hand.
- 03Printed and sentYour poster is printed on its own in Japan, packed and sent anywhere in the country, with a tracking link when it leaves us.

A note on dark moodsLight moods print very close to what you see on screen. Dark ones, like Neon nights, Golden lines and the Midnight blue and Black night star maps, print a little lighter, because ink on paper can't be as black as a lit screen.
Your photo, checkedOn a photo poster the editor checks your photo for the size you choose. If it has too few pixels to print sharply, that size can't be ordered, and it tells you when a photo may print a little soft.
About quality.
Where are your posters made?
In Japan. Every poster is printed to order in Japan on Japanese paper and sent from here to any address in the country.
What paper do you print on?
A thick Japanese poster paper with a smooth, matte finish, so there is no glare from windows or lamps.
Will my poster look like the preview?
Yes. The print file is drawn by the same code as the editor's preview, from the design you approved, at 300 dpi for your size. Dark moods print a little lighter than a screen shows.
What if my poster arrives damaged or with a printing fault?
Each poster is made to order, so returns cover printing faults and damage in transit. Write to us from the contact page with a photo.
